The Lord Lieutenant Vos officially opens the Blossom and Bloom Garden

We were delighted to receive the Lord Lieutenant Vos and two of his deputies, Marion Brown and Kate Bellinis to officiate the opening of our very special well-being area.

The garden has been developed using recycling and reclaimed materials and now offers a tranquil setting for staff append pupils to relax and learn in nature.

The event was attended by school governors and members of the local community who have offered their support to the project.  Our guests were delighted to tour the garden with some of the well-being ambassadors who shared the journey of the garden, discussing the different elements and how they empower a positive mindset and learning environment.

Our Magical Pebble Pathway is complete!!!!

From a piece of unused land, at the edge of the playground, we now have a stunning pebble pathway to enhance the area and an inviting entrance to a calm space for our children to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

In addition we have included a raised bed, containing sensory plants, to stimulate the senses with different textures, scents and colours.  The Friends of Goffs Oak have generously bought us some benches, with the support of the Co-op and the local community, to place around the trees.  We are off to find some wind chimes to build in sound elements to this tranquil setting!

Setting the Stones

The cement mixer has been working hard all day!  Hour by hour children from each class came to place pebbles in the concrete and there was a real buzz of excitement in the air as each stone took us nearer to completion!  We  are very grateful to Mr Magona (one of our amazing parents) for his support.

NEXT STEPS……

We are currently working together to develop a quiet corner, where our children can unwind during break and lunchtime, away from the busy playground.  The, already established, trees provide shade and interest and there are benches for relaxation and reading.  The pathway is underway and is reflective of the whole school community, who have come together to create a beautiful statement piece which can be enjoyed and admired by all.

Whole School Stone Painting

The whole school pupil and staff community came together again to paint more stones for the pathway. It was a marvellous afternoon with lots of excitement and, we are sure you will agree, a wide range of artistic talent!
We cannot wait to see them placed in the path for everyone to enjoy.

Positivity Rocks!

What a marvellous morning we had on Tuesday when we held our Positivity Rocks session.

It was a great opportunity to get creative, along with tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits! We have some very talented mums and dads and look forward to placing the stones in the pathway, by the outdoor classroom, for everyone to enjoy. As they were drying in the hall, the children had a chance to view them and they were thrilled to see the different patterns and designs!

Thank you to everyone who came along and to the Friends of Goffs Oak for supplying the refreshments.

Our Confidence Corner started life as a piece of waste land.  With the dedication of a work party, consisting of staff, pupils and parents, the area was cleared and developed into a garden which we all take pleasure in.  Maintained and nurtured by pupils who enjoy planting, watering and working as a team, it offers the opportunity for positive bonds to be made with peers and staff.

Confidence Corner

The Tranquility Room is an area, within our school building, where pupils are supported with their social and emotional needs.  They love spending time in this environment as it is both inviting and comforting; a place to unwind, chat and relax.  Sir Charles Walker, MP for Broxbourne, officially opened our room and was interested to speak to pupils about their thoughts on mental health following the COVID 19 pandemic.
