ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE FROM SCHOOL
Children should not be left on school property by themselves before 8.50am.  Children should be collected promptly at the end of the school session at 3.15pm.  If for any reason you are unable to be at school on time to collect your child, you must telephone and inform the school. This prevents unnecessary anxiety for the child left at school. Please phone the school if a different adult is collecting your child so that the class teacher is aware. Children in Key Stage 2 are able to walk to and from school but parental consent has to be given to the office in writing.

ATTENDANCE
It is the parent’s responsibility to see that their child attends school regularly and gets to school on time.  If your child is absent please inform the school by telephone on the day of absence. Absence will be authorised at the discretion of the Headteacher.

In accordance with Department for Education Regulations any unexplained absences may be regarded as unauthorised (truancy).  Children who arrive late (i.e. after the registers are closed) are marked  ‘absent through lateness` on the register. An Attendance Improvement Officer attends the school regularly and will contact the parents of children who are habitually absent or late.  Children sometimes say they have a tummy ache or a headache; this often disappears when they come to school.  If children are ill at school, we will telephone you so that they can go home.

ATTENDANCE IMPROVEMENT OFFICER
The Attendance Improvement Officer (AIO) works closely with families and schools.  They offer confidential support in all areas of children’s education and welfare. Our AIO regularly visits the school to discuss with staff children’s attendance, punctuality and any possible problems pupils may have.  Pupils who are regularly absent will receive a letter of concern from the school.  This may be followed up by a visit from AIO.

LEAVING SCHOOL DURING SCHOOL HOURS
Children are not allowed to leave the premises during school hours for any reason; unless they are accompanied by an adult who must sign that they accept full responsibility for the child’s safety.
