PE and Sport Premium

SPORTS PREMIUM FUNDING

What is the Sports Premium?

The Sports Premium Grant is additional funding given to schools to develop or add to the PE and sports activities that the school already offers and to build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years.

There are 5 key indicators that schools should expect to see improvement in:

  • The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school.
  • The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement.
  • Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.
  • Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
  • Increased participation in competitive sports.

Information about sport and PE provision at Goffs Oak School
Sports and PE are an essential part of life at Goffs Oak Primary & Nursery School. We encourage all children to have an active lifestyle and take part in school competitions and events. Many of our children play in the local leagues of various sports and attend our sports clubs after school. Our school is a member of the Waltham Cross & District Primary Schools Sports Association (WDPSSA), the local school sports partnership that organises the leagues and sports events.

  • Pupil voice is essential in developing our sports provision.
  • We have an annual sports day for both Early Years and KS1/KS2.
  • All our children in Year 3 and Year 4 swim every week during the Summer term, each year, to ensure that they all have access to swimming lessons.

We have staff members and external companies running optional sports club sessions at lunchtimes and after school.

Who monitors how the grant is spent?
The outcomes of sport and PE are monitored by the School’s PE leader, Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Governors.

From 2024 - 2025 there is a new online reporting tool that goes alongside the PE report.
Please see main PE report below and the online reporting tool download that goes alongside this.
