SPORTS PREMIUM FUNDING

What is the Sports Premium?
The Government will continue investment in the Primary PE & Sport Premium, as announced in December 2015 through ‘Sporting Future: A New Strategy for an Active Nation.’ .

Information about sport and PE provision at Goffs Oak School
Sports and PE are an essential part of life at Goffs Oak Primary & Nursery School. We encourage all children to have an active lifestyle and take part in school competitions and events. Many of our children play in the local leagues of various sports and attend our sports clubs after school. Our school is a member of the Waltham Cross & District Primary Schools Sports Association (WDPSSA), the local school sports partnership that organises the leagues and sports events.

● Pupil voice is essential in developing our sports provision.
● We have an annual sports day for both Early Years and KS1/KS2.
● All our children in Year 3 and Year 4 swim every week during the spring term, each year, to ensure that they all have access to swimming lessons.

We employ a PE coach that works with children and staff from Foundation Stage up to Year 6. They often lead PE lessons, alongside the class teacher, which encourages children to take an active role in keeping fit and healthy. The specialist coaches also teach the children skills to improve their physical strength, awareness and transferable skills. All children at Goffs Oak are included in PE lessons.
We have staff members and external companies running optional sports club sessions at lunchtimes and after school.

Who monitors how the grant is spent?
The outcomes of sport and PE are monitored by the School’s PE leader, Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Governors.
