Every school has its own Governing Body. Briefly, their job is to oversee the general conduct of the school, maintenance of the buildings and implementation of the Curriculum. They are a critical friend to the Headteacher. The Governing Body is made up of Local Authority Representatives, Parents, School Staff and Members of the Community. They meet at least once a term to discuss matters of School Policy. The minutes of each meeting are kept in the School Office and can be seen by parents at any time on request.

Category: LEA Governor Role(s): Finance & Premises Committee Standards & Curriculum Committee Appointed by the Local Authority 2009 Bio: My children attended the school and when I retired I volunteered to be a governor at Goffs Oak....and am still here! I am interested in education - not on its positive effect on individuals, but also for the theory (such as how do children learn and their changes in ability). I believe that education is continual and never stops. The challenge of the school is to ensure each child embraces the need to learn. Category: Parent Governor Role(s):Finance & Premises Committee Appointed by the Parent community in October 2020 Bio: I was appointed a parent governor in October 2020. I have twin girls who are in Year 2 and I work full time for an accountancy firm in the City. I wanted to join the governing body to learn more about how the school is run and make a positive contribution given the important role that the school will have over the next 5 years in my girls development. I believe as parents we should support the school but where necessary we should question and challenge the decisions being made. I look forward to working with the rest of the governors to assist the school to provide a secure and stimulating environment in which all pupils can develop themselves to their maximum potential academically, emotionally, physically and socially.
